Life Path 1 and 7 Compatibility
Tradition: Pythagorean numerology. A tradition, not a forecast. Numerologists read it this way; the evidence does not.

Life path 1 and 7 are a natural match on one popular reading of Pythagorean numerology: both numbers sit in the 1-5-7 group, and the 9 x 9 grid our calculator uses gives the pair a grid score of 92%.

Life path 1 and life path 7 are the two inputs here. To open this pair in the calculator, or to try two other numbers, compare life paths 1 and 7 in the calculator. If you do not know your life path numbers yet, enter two birthdays in the birthday compatibility calculator; the result shows both numbers and both sun signs.
How does the 9 x 9 grid read life path 1 and 7?
One popular way to read life path pairs sorts the nine numbers into three groups, 1-5-7, 2-4-8 and 3-6-9, and treats numbers in the same group as natural matches. Not every numerologist uses it: numerology.com, for example, lists matches number by number and rates 3 with 6 as a difficult pair. Our grid uses the three-group reading and says so.
Life path 1 and life path 7 are different numbers that share the 1-5-7 group. On our grid, two different numbers in the same group get the highest values, a little less the further apart they sit, counted the short way round the nine numbers. The method box on this page gives the rule with its figures.
The grouping is one popular form of Pythagorean numerology. Joy of Numerology calls the sets "concords" and describes them as "harmonious". Healing Sounds names 1, 5 and 7 the Individualists and ties them to independence and freedom.
Does every numerologist rate life path 1 and 7 the same way?
No. Numerology.com, one of the largest numerology references, does not use the groups. For a 1 it names 3, 5 and 6 as the best partners, and for a 7 it names 4, 5 and 7, so neither number is on the other's best list. Our grid rates the pair by the group rule instead. Both are published house systems, not measurements, and ours has not yet been reviewed by a numerologist.
How do life path 1 and 7 do in love, marriage and friendship?
The grid gives one value for all three, because it compares two life path numbers and nothing else.
How does numerology read life path 1 and 7 in love?
The grouping view reads a 1 and a 7 as two Individualists, a set Healing Sounds ties to independence and freedom. The numbers differ, the theme is shared. Numerology.com's lists, which keep the two apart, show this is one view among several. It is a tradition many people find meaningful, not evidence about the two of you.
Can a life path 1 marry a life path 7?
Yes. Numerology rates pairs and does not forbid them, and the grid gives life path 1 and 7 the same verdict for marriage that it gives for love. Some numerologists add one more step for marriage: the wedding date. That step is explained in wedding date numerology. Numbers cannot say whether a given marriage will last.
Can life path 1 and 7 be good friends?
Yes. The grid does not keep a separate cell for friends, and the grouping view makes no distinction, so the verdict at the top covers friendship. For a 7 paired with a 3 instead, see life path 3 and 7 compatibility.
Is life path 7 and 1 the same as 1 and 7?
Yes. The grid is symmetric: life path 7 and 1 reaches the same cell as life path 1 and 7, and the verdict's either-order line confirms it. There is one page per pair, low number first, so life path 7 and 1 compatibility is answered on this page.
Any other two numbers go into the numerology compatibility calculator at the top of this page.

How we calculate it
- Each birth date is added up and reduced to a life path number from 1 to 9. The master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are noted and then reduced for the table.
- The two life paths are looked up on a 9 by 9 grid.
- Every cell of that grid comes from one rule: the same number scores 85; two numbers in the same group score 95 minus how far apart they are; numbers in different groups score 71 plus that distance when they are 3 or more apart, 62 when they are 2 apart and 45 when they are 1 apart.
- The distance is measured the short way round the nine numbers.
- The grouping 1-5-7, 2-4-8 and 3-6-9 is one popular reading, not the only one, and the table is our own and has not been checked by a numerologist.
The full rule, in plain words and in pseudocode, is on the methodology page.
