Numerology Marriage Compatibility and Wedding Date Numerology
Tradition: Pythagorean numerology. A tradition, not a forecast. Numerologists read it this way; the evidence does not.
Explained. This page explains Numerology Compatibility (Pythagorean numerology).

To reduce a wedding date, add every digit of the day, month and year until one digit, or 11, 22 or 33, remains; that is the date's number in popular numerology, and reducing the day, month and year separately first gives the same digit unless a master number appears.
The search numerology marriage compatibility covers two different questions. One is how two people read as a couple, which numerology answers from their birth dates: numerology compatibility turns two dates into life path numbers and compares them on a published grid. The other is how a wedding date reads, which this page works through by hand.
How do you check marriage compatibility in numerology?
You compare the two partners' life path numbers. The wedding date plays no part in this reading.
- Find each partner's life path number from the birth date.
- Look the two numbers up on a compatibility grid. The grid our calculator uses follows one popular grouping of the numbers, and not every numerologist uses it.
- Read what the tradition says about that pair: what draws the two numbers together, where they strain, and how each treats commitment.
Numerology.com uses the life path for compatibility, and when it compares two people it reads the master numbers 11, 22 and 33 as 2, 4 and 6. Some readings add numbers taken from the two names; that is a separate method from the birth date one.
Is there a numerology calculator for a marriage date?
Not for choosing a date. Our numerology calculator compares two birth dates, which is the couple reading above, and that is usually what a numerology marriage compatibility calculator means. A wedding date is reduced by hand, as the next sections show. This site does not pick, rank or forecast dates for anyone.
What is a marriage number in numerology?
A marriage number is the single number a wedding date reduces to. Popular numerology reads it as the theme of that day, the way a life path is read as the theme of a birth date. It describes the date, not the couple: two people with any pair of life paths can marry on a day that reduces to any number. Like a life path, a date can also reduce to one of the master numbers 11, 22 or 33, which some numerologists keep rather than reduce.
How do you reduce a wedding date in numerology?
Adding every digit takes three steps:
- Write out every digit of the day, the month and the four-digit year.
- Add all the digits together.
- If the total has two digits, add those digits, and repeat until one digit remains, or stop at 11, 22 or 33.
Here is the method worked on a made-up date:
24 June 2028 is a made-up date for this example.
- Write out every digit of the day, the month and the year: 2, 4, 6, 2, 0, 2, 8.
- Add them: 2 + 4 + 6 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 8 = 24.
- Add the digits again: 2 + 4 = 6.
- One digit remains: the date's number is 6.
Can one wedding date have two different numbers?
Yes, but only when a master number turns up along the way. Some numerologists reduce the day, the month and the year separately, keep any 11, 22 or 33 they find, and only then add the three. Our life path calculator treats a birth date the same way. On most dates both methods land on the same number. On this made-up date they part ways:
22 May 2027 is a made-up date for this example.
- Write out every digit of the day, the month and the year: 2, 2, 5, 2, 0, 2, 7.
- Add them: 2 + 2 + 5 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 20.
- Add the digits again: 2 + 0 = 2.
- One digit remains: the date's number is 2.
Our life path calculator reduces the day, the month and the year separately before adding them, which gives 11/2 for the same date. Both methods are in use; each page says which one it follows.
Outside master numbers the two methods always agree. Adding the digits of a number keeps its remainder after dividing by 9, whatever order you add them in, so a different result only ever comes from keeping an 11, 22 or 33 instead of reducing it. If two sites give one date two numbers, check which method each follows.
Which dates are lucky for weddings in numerology?
There is no single agreed list, but one numerologist's guidance shows how the reasoning goes. The writer at joyofnumerology.com, in a post from June 2024, reads 6 as the number that "represents love, marriage" and calls a wedding on the 6th, 15th or 24th of a month "a solid start". For the whole date, the same writer's preference is a total of 6, 2 or 11. Writing about birth dates, the same post adds the day, month and year separately and calls adding straight across "lazy Numerology". The first made-up date above happens to fit that guidance. It remains one practitioner's preference, not a rule of the tradition, and this page names no unlucky dates.
Does the wedding date change your compatibility?
No. In numerology the couple reading comes from your two birth dates, and those never change. A wedding date's number describes the day you choose, not the two of you, so picking a different date leaves your life path pair exactly where it was.
If you are weighing marriage itself rather than a date, start with which marriage check to use.
