Hello. We are the love gurus, and this is the fun super-scientific approach to calculating love. Enter two names, press the button, and get a Love Score as a percentage. It is a game: a fixed formula on your letters, for fun, and it cannot tell you anything about a real relationship. We have been running it since 2017 and we are delighted you are here. What a Love Score is
A Love Score is the number the Love Calculator returns for two names, written as a percentage. It is a whole number with no rounding, and the highest one the formula can make is 99.
Love Score is this site's name for a compatibility score. It is one playful way to put a number on love compatibility, and it comes from letters alone. Type two names and you find out what the letters add up to.
The same two names always get the same Love Score here, in either order, today and next year. Nothing in the formula is random. A nickname or a full name gives a different number. The letters changed and the people didn't. So play it again with full names if you like.
We calculate every Love Score with the TRUE LOVE rule from the paper game: count the letters, sum them, join two digits. Here is each step, then one pair worked through.
- Both names are tidied the same way: accents fold to their base letter, everything becomes a capital, and anything that is not a letter from A to Z is dropped.
- The two names are joined, so the order you type them in never changes the score.
- Each letter of TRUE is counted in the joined names and the four counts are added. The same is done for LOVE. The letter E sits in both words, so it is counted under each.
- A total of 10 or more is reduced by adding its digits until one digit is left.
- The TRUE digit and the LOVE digit are set side by side and read as a percentage, from 0 to 99.
The order of the names never changes your score, because we join the two names before we count. Full names add letters, so they score differently from first names. Leave titles out: Mr adds an M and an R. The rule always finishes on two digits, so a Love Score runs from 0 to 99 and never reaches 100.

Your Love Score falls into one of five bands, and each band comes with one sentence from the love gurus. The bands describe the letters in two names, not the two people. Each band below has a range, a name and its sentence.

A low score means the letters of TRUE and LOVE are thin in those two names, and nothing else. First names land low most of the time. On common first names, about 80 percent of pairs score under 50. Full names spread across all five bands, so "Try again with full names" is a real suggestion and not a trick. The letters are the same whoever types them. Here is what they give some famous pairs.
