A crush calculator is a Game that scores one person's crush from two names with a fixed formula; the quiz beside it asks ten self-report questions, and neither can read another person's mind.

What is a crush calculator?

A crush calculator is a name game for one person with a crush: you type your name and your crush's name, and you get a crush score as a percentage.

This page has two parts, and they answer different things. The name score plays with letters. The ten-statement quiz counts what you have noticed. Some people search for the pair as a crush compatibility test.

The crush calculator is free, with no email and no account. It runs in your browser and the names never leave your device, so nobody sees who you typed. A crush calculator is the one-sided, playful corner of love compatibility. The name score comes first.

The crush calculator works on letters, in three steps, which is why some people call it a crush name test. We calculate the crush score the same way every time.

  1. Both names are tidied the same way: accents fold to their base letter, everything becomes a capital, and anything that is not a letter from A to Z is dropped.
  2. Your name is joined with your crush's name written twice. That is what makes this one one-sided: swap the boxes and the score changes.
  3. Each letter of TRUE is counted in those letters and the counts are added. The same is done for LOVE, with the E counted under each word.
  4. A total of 10 or more is reduced by adding its digits until one digit is left.
  5. The two digits side by side are the crush score, from 0 to 99.

Your crush's name goes in twice and yours goes in once, so the score is about them from your side. The top box is you, and the bottom box is your crush. Swapping the two boxes changes your score. The rule always finishes on two digits, so a crush score runs from 0 to 99.

The quiz is simpler than the name score. It has ten statements. Each Yes counts 2, each Sometimes counts 1 and each No counts 0. The total runs from 0 to 20 and falls into one of three bands. Nothing else goes into it. Letters can't say what another person feels, so the quiz counts behaviour you have seen.

Does my crush like me?

We cannot tell you, and neither can any quiz. What this quiz can do is count the small things you have noticed and hand the total back to you. It has ten statements with three answers each, and it takes about a minute. It asks for no names and saves nothing. It is a self-reflection tool: you find out what you noticed, not what another person feels.

Your crush calculator result is one of five bands for the crush score and one of three for the quiz total, and each describes letters or things you noticed, never the other person. The first list below shows the five score bands, and the second shows the three quiz bands.

There is no hate result here: the score is a number and the quiz is a count. What it means is small. Both parts are games with fixed rules, for fun, and neither can read another person's mind.

A low crush score means the letters of TRUE and LOVE are thin in those two names. It says nothing about you and nothing about them. Letters are not people.

Whatever the tool is called, it does the same small thing.

Is a crush detector the same as a crush calculator?

Yes, on this page. A crush detector and a crush calculator are the same small game: two names in, one number out. Crush finder, crush love test and crush love tester are more names people use for it. No tool can detect who has a crush on you, whatever it is called. This one matches letters against the words TRUE and LOVE, and it counts things you noticed.

Are crush calculators accurate?
No. A crush calculator is a Game: it counts letters in two names with a fixed formula, so it cannot know how anyone feels. Nothing in it is random, and nothing in it is real insight into a person. The same two names in the same boxes always get the same score, which makes it fair as a game and useless as a test of feelings.
What is the 3 month crush rule?
The 3 month crush rule is an informal rule of thumb some people use for new relationships: the first three months or so are for getting to know someone before any big step. A version for crushes goes round online, saying a crush that lasts past a few months is more than a crush. Neither has any research behind it.
Who is secretly crushing on me?
