How does LoveCalculator.love make money?

LoveCalculator.love makes money in two ways: display advertising on most pages, and a small number of affiliate links that pay a commission when a reader books or subscribes. Every tool and every result is free, no partner pays to be mentioned, and no link of that kind appears on a Game page. Who runs the site, and why it is built this way, is on about us.

What advertising runs on LoveCalculator.love?

Display advertising, on most pages, and contextual only on the game pages. The ads pay for the site, and the rules below apply to every one of them.

Most pages carry display ads. As the site grows we intend to move to a premium network such as Journey by Mediavine, Mediavine or Raptive, and this page will be updated when that happens.

Rules we apply to every ad: no ad above the fold on a trust page; no ad on a game's play area or on a result block; no ad in the first viewport of a prose page on a phone except one sticky footer unit on the zodiac verdict pages; every ad slot has a reserved height so the page does not jump; no pop-unders, interstitials, exit-intent overlays, autoplay video or push-notification prompts anywhere.

On game pages, which are visited by children, ads are contextual only: no behavioural targeting and no personalised advertising. Where the law requires consent for personalised ads (for example in the European Union and the United Kingdom), you will see a consent choice on your first visit and can change it at any time from the footer; declining it leaves the site fully usable.

Revenue from display advertising varies by country; a visitor from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada or Australia earns the site more per visit than a visitor from elsewhere. We say this because it explains why the site is written for a US-led English audience first.

Which pages count as Game pages is set by the label, and the labels are defined in the methodology.

We choose reading marketplaces that publish their prices and refund terms. We do not link to products whose sales pages promise health outcomes, money, or to bring a former partner back.

What will LoveCalculator.love never do to earn money?

• Place an affiliate link, an email form, an app prompt, a dating link or a psychic link on any Game page: the name calculator, the Love Tester, FLAMES, the crush, friendship and name compatibility tests, the moon phase overlay, the results cards, or any explainer about those games.
• Show an affiliate link before you have your result, or more than once in the body of a page.
• Aim a link at a low score. Where a reading link exists, it appears at every score with the same wording.
• Use urgency, scarcity, countdowns, guilt or shame in any offer.
• Put a dating link on any page a couple is reading, or in the same view as a couples-quiz result.
• Put a counselling or therapy link next to any quiz result, or as an affiliate link anywhere.
• Accept payment for a mention, a review, a ranking, a guest post or a link.
• Let a partner see, approve or influence a page, a tool, a score or a label.
• Recommend a service we have not looked at ourselves, including its pricing and refund terms.

How are promo codes on share cards disclosed?

A promo code or an affiliate link on a share card is disclosed with the word "ad" or "affiliate" printed on the asset itself. That applies to every share card, certificate or social post from this site, as the FTC's endorsement guidance requires. Today none do.

Own products

We may in future sell a downloadable report or printable workbook based on a result. If we do, it will be sold plainly, after the result, in the same wording rules as above, with no urgency, and this page will list it.
