Life Path 1 and 1 Compatibility
Tradition: Pythagorean numerology. A tradition, not a forecast. Numerologists read it this way; the evidence does not.

Life path 1 and 1 are a natural match on one popular reading of Pythagorean numerology: two of the same number, in the 1-5-7 group, and the 9 x 9 grid our calculator uses gives the pair a grid score of 85%.

Band words: natural match 80 to 95, mixed match 55 to 75, difficult match 35 to 50. The grid is our own, built from one stated rule, and has not been checked by a numerologist.
Life path 1 and life path 1 are the two inputs here. To open this pair in the calculator, or to try two other numbers, check 1 and 1 on the 9 x 9 grid. If you do not know your life path numbers yet, work them out from two birthdays with compatibility by birthday; the result shows both numbers and both sun signs.
How does the 9 x 9 grid read life path 1 and 1?
One popular way to read life path pairs sorts the nine numbers into three groups, 1-5-7, 2-4-8 and 3-6-9, and treats numbers in the same group as natural matches. Not every numerologist uses it: numerology.com, for example, lists matches number by number and rates 3 with 6 as a difficult pair. Our grid uses the three-group reading and says so.
A pair of life path 1s puts the same number on both sides, and 1 belongs to the 1-5-7 group. Our grid treats every same-number pair alike: one fixed value, set a little below two different numbers of the same group. The method box on this page gives the rule with its figures.
The groups belong to Pythagorean numerology as one school of practice teaches it. Joy of Numerology calls them "concords" and describes them as "harmonious". Healing Sounds calls 1, 5 and 7 the Individualists and links them with independence and freedom. That is one popular grouping, and the next section shows where a larger publisher departs from it.
Does every numerologist rate life path 1 and 1 the same way?
No, and this pair shows the gap clearly. Numerology.com does not sort the numbers into groups. It lists partners for each life path on its own, and for a 1 it names 3, 5 and 6 as the best, so a second 1 is left off. Our grid follows the three-group rule instead. Both are published house systems, and neither is a measurement. Our table has not yet been checked by a numerologist, and the method box says so.
How do life path 1 and 1 do in love, marriage and friendship?
The grid holds one value for life path 1 and 1, and that value answers all three questions.
How does numerology read two life path 1s in love?
The grouping view pairs like with like. Healing Sounds describes the Individualists as numbers that prize independence and freedom, so two 1s share that priority instead of trading it for something else. Numerology.com, as the section above shows, would not put two 1s together first. Either way, this is a tradition many people find meaningful, not evidence about the two of you.
Can a life path 1 marry another 1?
Yes. No numerology system forbids a pairing; it only rates it, and our grid rates life path 1 and 1 the same for marriage as for love. Some numerologists add one more step for marriage: the wedding date. That step is explained in marriage compatibility by numerology. What a marriage becomes is up to the two people in it, not to their numbers.
Can two life path 1s be good friends?
Yes. Friendship draws on the same cell of the grid as romance, and the grouping view makes no separate rule for friends, so the verdict at the top applies unchanged. For a 1 paired with a 3 instead, see life path 1 and 3 compatibility.
The numerology compatibility calculator at the top of this page compares any other two numbers or two birth dates.

How we calculate it
- Each birth date is added up and reduced to a life path number from 1 to 9. The master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are noted and then reduced for the table.
- The two life paths are looked up on a 9 by 9 grid.
- Every cell of that grid comes from one rule: the same number scores 85; two numbers in the same group score 95 minus how far apart they are; numbers in different groups score 71 plus that distance when they are 3 or more apart, 62 when they are 2 apart and 45 when they are 1 apart.
- The distance is measured the short way round the nine numbers.
- The grouping 1-5-7, 2-4-8 and 3-6-9 is one popular reading, not the only one, and the table is our own and has not been checked by a numerologist.
The full rule, in plain words and in pseudocode, is on the methodology page.
