Life Path 8 and 8 Compatibility

Tradition: Pythagorean numerology. A tradition, not a forecast. Numerologists read it this way; the evidence does not.

Life path 8 and 8 are a natural match on one popular reading of Pythagorean numerology: two of the same number, in the 2-4-8 group, and the 9 x 9 grid our calculator uses gives the pair a grid score of 85%.

Life path 8 and life path 8 are the two inputs here. To open this pair in the calculator, or to try two other numbers, compare life paths 8 and 8 in the calculator. If you do not know your life path numbers yet, work them out from two birthdays with compatibility by birthday; the result shows both numbers and both sun signs.

How does the 9 x 9 grid read life path 8 and 8?

One popular way to read life path pairs sorts the nine numbers into three groups, 1-5-7, 2-4-8 and 3-6-9, and treats numbers in the same group as natural matches. Not every numerologist uses it: numerology.com, for example, lists matches number by number and rates 3 with 6 as a difficult pair. Our grid uses the three-group reading and says so.

Life path 8 and life path 8 are one number twice, so both halves of the pair sit in the 2-4-8 group. Our grid gives two of the same number one fixed value, set a little below two different numbers of the same group. The method box on this page states the rule in full.

The grouping comes from Pythagorean numerology as some numerologists practise it. Joy of Numerology calls the three sets "concords" and describes them as "harmonious", and Healing Sounds names 2, 4 and 8 the Pragmatists: grounded, practical and security-oriented. It is one popular way to sort the nine numbers, not the only one.

Does every numerologist rate life path 8 and 8 the same way?

No. Numerology.com, one of the largest numerology references, does not use the three groups at all. It lists partners one life path at a time, and for an 8 it names only 4 and 6 as the best, so a second 8 is not on that list. Our grid and that list rest on different rules, which is normal in this field: each numerologist publishes its own table. Ours is one stated rule, set out in the method box, and a numerologist has not yet reviewed it.

How do life path 8 and 8 do in love, marriage and friendship?

One grid cell answers all three, because the grid compares two life path numbers and nothing else about the two people.

How does numerology read two life path 8s in love?

On the grouping view, two life path 8s are two of the same kind. Healing Sounds places the 8 among the Pragmatists, so a same-number pair shares a grounded, security-minded outlook instead of balancing it with a different one. That is how one strand of numerology describes the number. It is a tradition many people find meaningful, not a claim about how either of you loves.

Can a life path 8 marry another 8?

Yes. Numerology rates pairs; it does not forbid them, and the grid gives life path 8 and 8 the same verdict for marriage that it gives for love. Some numerologists add one more step for marriage: the wedding date. That step is explained in numerology marriage compatibility calculator. Neither number says whether a particular marriage will last.

Can two life path 8s be good friends?

Yes, on the same terms. The grid holds one cell for life path 8 and 8, and the grouping view does not separate friends from partners, so the verdict at the top covers a friendship too. For an 8 paired with a 1 instead, see life path 1 and 8 compatibility.

For any other two numbers, the numerology compatibility calculator linked at the top of this page takes two life paths or two birth dates.

How we calculate it

  1. Each birth date is added up and reduced to a life path number from 1 to 9. The master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are noted and then reduced for the table.
  2. The two life paths are looked up on a 9 by 9 grid.
  3. Every cell of that grid comes from one rule: the same number scores 85; two numbers in the same group score 95 minus how far apart they are; numbers in different groups score 71 plus that distance when they are 3 or more apart, 62 when they are 2 apart and 45 when they are 1 apart.
  4. The distance is measured the short way round the nine numbers.
  5. The grouping 1-5-7, 2-4-8 and 3-6-9 is one popular reading, not the only one, and the table is our own and has not been checked by a numerologist.

The full rule, in plain words and in pseudocode, is on the methodology page.

Questions people ask

Are life path 8 and 8 compatible?
On the grid our calculator uses, two 8s are the same number inside the popular 2-4-8 grouping, one of the three sets Joy of Numerology calls concords. The band and the grid score are in the verdict at the top of this page. Not every numerologist uses the groups: numerology.com names only 4 and 6 as the best partners for an 8. That is a tradition, not evidence about two people.
What challenges do two life path 8s face?
Our grid gives a verdict, not a list of challenges. Healing Sounds describes the 2-4-8 numbers as grounded, practical and security-oriented, and two 8s bring the same outlook twice, with no second outlook beside it. That is the open question the grouping leaves. It is a tradition's description, not a fact about either of you.
Can a master number reduce to life path 8?
No. The calculator keeps three master numbers, 11, 22 and 33, and reads them through 2, 4 and 6. A birth date that reduces to 8 is always a plain 8 here, so no master number note applies to this pair.
