Life Path 2 and 2 Compatibility
Tradition: Pythagorean numerology. A tradition, not a forecast. Numerologists read it this way; the evidence does not.

Life path 2 and 2 are a natural match on one popular reading of Pythagorean numerology: two of the same number, in the 2-4-8 group, and the 9 x 9 grid our calculator uses gives the pair a grid score of 85%.

Band words: natural match 80 to 95, mixed match 55 to 75, difficult match 35 to 50. The grid is our own, built from one stated rule, and has not been checked by a numerologist.
Life path 2 and life path 2 are the two inputs here. To open this pair in the calculator, or to try two other numbers, use the numerology calculator, pre-filled with 2 and 2. If you do not know your life path numbers yet, work them out from two birthdays with compatibility by birthday; the result shows both numbers and both sun signs.
How does the 9 x 9 grid read life path 2 and 2?
One popular way to read life path pairs sorts the nine numbers into three groups, 1-5-7, 2-4-8 and 3-6-9, and treats numbers in the same group as natural matches. Not every numerologist uses it: numerology.com, for example, lists matches number by number and rates 3 with 6 as a difficult pair. Our grid uses the three-group reading and says so.
With life path 2 and life path 2, both numbers are the same and both belong to the 2-4-8 group. Every same-number pair on our grid gets one fixed value, placed a little below two different numbers of the same group. The method box on this page states that rule, figures included.
Behind it sits Pythagorean numerology as one school reads the numbers. Joy of Numerology calls the three sets "concords" and describes them as "harmonious"; Healing Sounds names the 2-4-8 set the Pragmatists, grounded, practical and security-oriented. A birth date that reduces to the master number 11 also lands on this pair, as the note after the article explains.
Does every numerologist rate life path 2 and 2 the same way?
Not necessarily. The three groups are one popular system, and numerology.com, one of the largest numerology references, does not use them: it builds a separate partner list for each life path. A list built that way can rate a pair differently from a group rule, so a verdict here and a verdict there may not line up. Other numerologists publish their own tables; ours is one stated rule, and a numerologist has not yet reviewed it.
How do life path 2 and 2 do in love, marriage and friendship?
All three come from the same cell, since the grid looks at two life path numbers and nothing more.
How does numerology read two life path 2s in love?
On the grouping view, a pair of 2s is two members of the Pragmatists, the set Healing Sounds calls grounded, practical and security-oriented. The pair shares that outlook rather than mixing it with another. That describes a number in one strand of numerology. It is a tradition many people find meaningful, not a statement about how the two of you will feel.
Can a life path 2 marry another 2?
Yes. Numerology grades a pairing; it does not rule one out, and the grid's verdict for life path 2 and 2 in marriage is the one it gives for love. Some numerologists add one more step for marriage: the wedding date. That step is explained in marriage compatibility by numerology. Two numbers cannot tell anyone how a marriage will go.
Can two life path 2s be good friends?
Yes. The grouping view draws no line between friends and partners, and the grid has a single cell for life path 2 and 2, so the verdict at the top holds for friendship as well. For a 2 paired with a 6 instead, see life path 2 and 6 compatibility.
Any other two numbers or two birth dates go into the numerology compatibility calculator at the top of this page.
Master numbers in this pair
A birth date can reduce to a master number, and 11 reduces to 2. The calculator keeps the master number visible (it shows 11/2) and reads the grid through the reduced digit, so a pair that includes an 11 lands on this same cell, a grid score of 85% and a natural match. That is this site's rule for master numbers, stated with the rest of the method.

How we calculate it
- Each birth date is added up and reduced to a life path number from 1 to 9. The master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are noted and then reduced for the table.
- The two life paths are looked up on a 9 by 9 grid.
- Every cell of that grid comes from one rule: the same number scores 85; two numbers in the same group score 95 minus how far apart they are; numbers in different groups score 71 plus that distance when they are 3 or more apart, 62 when they are 2 apart and 45 when they are 1 apart.
- The distance is measured the short way round the nine numbers.
- The grouping 1-5-7, 2-4-8 and 3-6-9 is one popular reading, not the only one, and the table is our own and has not been checked by a numerologist.
The full rule, in plain words and in pseudocode, is on the methodology page.
